The house

Can Aulí sits on the upper edge of Pollença, where the streets run out at the Calvari steps and the town drops away below in terracotta tiles. From up here the bell tower, the cypresses and the Tramuntana are all visible at once.
It's a small place, kept that way. A handful of rooms in old marès stone, each one restored with care for the original fabric, and terraces arranged around what the house does well: the view over the town and up to the mountains.
The people who look after it have done so carefully enough that Condé Nast Traveler named it in 2021, and guests have since held it at 4.7 across 167 reviews.

The pool sits on the terrace below the house: long, clear and lined in pale stone, with umbrellas and chairs around it for the afternoons when moving feels unnecessary.

The table
A kitchen that starts with the island.
Breakfast is worth getting up for: local pastries, island fruit, the smell of good coffee in the morning light. Mallorcan produce, cooked plainly and well.
The house cooks close to the island: fish from the same coast, vegetables grown the way they always have been. The food is the same kind of plain, generous thing as the rooms.

Pollença sits at the foot of the Tramuntana in the north of Mallorca: a stone town of narrow streets, a Sunday market and a Roman bridge, far enough from the resorts to have kept itself. Can Aulí is at the top of it, on the quiet edge by the Calvari.
From here the rest of the island is an easy drive: the port and the beaches below, the Formentor lighthouse out on its cape, Palma and the airport under an hour away across the plain.
